I MET WITH FR. CLYDE PHILLIPS this afternoon and agreed with his suggestion that I not "stir the pot" any further regarding the on-going election process for U.S. Regional. This is not silencing nor censorship—self or imposed—but rather a mutual understanding and appreciation that nothing more is to be gained by my further focusing on this issue. His concern was that more discussion might unintentionally undermine the confidence, if not the legitimacy, of the new Regional and we both agreed that would indeed be unfortunate and regrettable. He will soon be sending out an email to the U.S. members telling about our discussion and explaining why he thinks further email exchanges on this topic would be counterproductive.
We can simply hope for the best and pray for whomever the process produces to lead our Region. Clyde felt if restructuring is still on everyone's mind next year, our Regional Assembly in May would be the time to discuss it. Father Romane St. Vil and Brother Tom Hickey are the planning committee for the Assembly.
Times like these are a good test of Romans 8:28 "For those who love God, all things work together for good...."
