DARKNESS DESCENDS upon the Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers Center tomorrow as the electricity gets turned off from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. while our electricians make some critical electrical repairs.

THERE WILL BE NO LANDLINE PHONE SERVICE DURING THOSE HOURS.

Elevators will be turned on briefly during lunch time to allow men on the upper floors to get to meals. Yes, our stalwart Sodexo kitchen staff will still be cooking by gas and, I presume, by candlelight. Dishwashing must wait, so Green Knoll notwithstanding, expect paper plates and cups and plastic utensils.

Many residents have already made plans to flee to the light.
