Knews from the Knoll

Well, the results are in for the First Ballot of the Second Round of voting for Maryknoll's U.S. Regional Superior and the Big Yawn is as follows: Father Bob Jalbert (13); Father Stephen Booth (7); Father Mike Duggan (7); Father John Moran (5) and Father Bill Donnelly (2).

This mirrors almost exactly the last ballot except for the exclusion of Brother Wayne Fitzpatrick who actually won in a landslide. His 43 votes were scattered among 33 others including our long-dead Co-Founder, Fr. Thomas Price, R.I.P., who may be dead, but as a cleric, remains more qualified than a Brother to serve as Regional.

So a Second Ballot (Or Fourth, depending on how one counts) will take place with whoever wins having all the legitimacy of Iran's Ahmadinejad. Yet the new superior will have the blessing of our own Ayatollahs, so that's what matters.

  1. I wish we would have just changed the title to "coordinator" and elected Wayne.

  2. More than a lack of vocations, recent Maryknoll leadership and the entire Society has suffered from alack of creativity and imagination.
